Can I do this in ImageJ/Fiji ? The original image is 2048 X 2048 and 16MB and they need at least 300 DPI. Thanks for any help! Mike |

Open your image, go to image > adjust > size and enter 2550 x 2550 (keep aspect ratio, use bilinear or bicubic interpolation). If you want to print it at 8.5 x 11, you will need to crop it to the same aspect ratio, and then upsample it as described above. A better idea though would be to print your image at a final size of 6.8 x 6.8 inches. This is still 300 dpi, but you are not doing any upsampling (and therefore changing your data) Julio Vazquez Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Seattle, USA http://www.fhcrc.org == On Mar 5, 2013, at 12:49 PM, Mike Tighe wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > ***** > > A journal has asked me to re-size an Image to 8.5" X 11". It is possible: Analyze>Set Scale... lets you choose the unit "in" for "inch", then just input the width in pixels and the desired width in inch in the first two input boxes. Saving as .tif and .jpg should heed those settings, and I could imagine .png does it, too. Ciao, Johannes |

The Jounal may be smart enough to know what size your image needs to be printed, but I could be wrong. If you want to be sure that your image prints at the desired size, you may be better off using Photoshop or similar software. In this case, you can assign your desired DPI to the Figure, and therefore specify the printing size at the same time (image size in pixels divided by DPI equals print size in inches). Some proprietary fileformats require an active Huygens license but all common fileformats are read in at all times. Some of the visualization tools (Twin-slicer and Volume renderer) are active in free ware mode as well. Saving your cropped data can be done in for example RGB Tif, 8 and 16 bit Tifs , ICS, OME, DV, HDF5. In FigureJ, create a new figure with dimensions of 8.5 by 11 inches at 300 dpi (new figure dialog) Then choose 'open image', select your original data file. Visually select the region to be scaled and press 'OK'. Done. See videos at http://www.figurej.org/ for more detais.
