Hello, We are looking at upgrading our florescence light source and are considering the Spectra X vs Sola. I would like to hear feedback from users who prefer one vs another.
Thanks, -Prabhakar |

HI Prabhakar We have SpectraX and we are happy with it. We have it on a widefield systemwith NIDAQ card for fast switch. Med vänlig hälsning / Best regards Sylvie @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Sylvie Le Guyader, PhD Live Cell Imaging Facility Manager Karolinska Institutet- Bionut Dpt Hälsovägen 7,

Prabhakar, we have both and I like them all. In particular the possibility
to switch them on and off as quickly as I want. The Sola white light is the cheaper solution, the SpectraX allows fast switchting of LEDs. Ideal if you want to do fast multicolor with a quadband-Filter and the like. If you either do not need speed or want to use individual filter blocks for each channel anyway, or your microscope control software does not support switching of the SpectraX you can save money by using the Sola. Without an at least dual band pass filter and the software
ability to switch excitation fast, I would not know what the
advantage of the SpectraX would be. Steffen Am 01.11.2016 um 15:27 schrieb

Hi Prabhakar, We have the Spectra X as the light source for our high content screening system. It’s really great for this purpose as we have multiband filter cubes so it speeds up the acquisition process considerably.
Though you do need to make sure that you check carefully for bleedthrough/cross-excitation with suitable controls. Cheers, Jacqui Jacqueline Ross

Of course spectra X gives a freedom of bright monochromatic wavelength option. While sola is a white light source. Try New Cool LEd PE 4000 which has led banks of 15-16 lines. You might want to look at the Excelitas LED120 and the CoolLED pe300 or pe4000. What you purchase really depends on your imaging needs. I'm happy to discuss offline. Sincerely, Claire |
