The Confocal Microscopy Listserver Is Moving

Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal The Confocal Microscopy Listserver Is Moving
There's no need to worry; there's no need for you to do anything.  It is our hope that the move will not cause any disruption to the group.

The Confocal Listserver was founded by P.C. Cheng, Don Parsons and Bob Summers in 1987 using L-Soft listserv software that was installed at the University of Buffalo by Jim Gerland.  Indeed, for many years this was the main site for listservers for the US since distributive discussion groups were really new at this time.

I inherited the list from Bob Summers in 1998, and have been running it remotely since then.  The confocal list has grown in the past 20 years from the three pioneers in 1987 to some 2000 or so subscribers today.  For several reasons, we intend to move the list over to the University of Minneapolis system where Jerry Sedgewick has kindly agreed to take over.

I would like to thank the University of Buffalo for hosting our discussion group for the past 20 years.  A special thank-you goes to Jim Serwinowski, the current UB Listserv Administrator, for his expert help and advice.

The new Email address for the Confocal List will be [hidden email] and the full archive can be found at
http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CONFOCALMICROSCOPY

If you are a current user, you will be able to post and receive messages as usual.  I stress again - there's no need to change anything.  The move will take place tomorrow (Friday), and if at all possible would you please keep traffic on the list to a minimum tomorrow since incoming new messages could be lost during the transfer.

Thank-you for ten years of good list behavior.  There have been a few entertaining rants and the odd message sent to the list in error but I have been impressed by the high quality of the contributions.

Did I mention that there's no need to worry??

All the best
Steve

One tends to forget that there are actually people (and money...)
behind the servers!
So this is probably a good opportunity to thank all of those who
permit to this list to live on. It is a wonderfull tool.
Thanks Steve
