To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Hello: We want to buy a new transmitted light shutter for our DeltaVision system. As far as I know there is only one distributor of Uniblitz shutters in Europe: BFI Optilas. We did the order in August and we are still waiting for the shutter. Do you know another way/company I could contact to buy this kind of shutter? Thanks in advance, Have a nice weekend! There IS no other way to buy from Vincent Associates (i.e. Uniblitz) unless you buy directly from them and then they demand that you pay in advance. However, at least here in Norway, it is illegal that any state organization would pre-pay anything. Neither am I, as a state employed person, allowed to pay using my own private credit card (i.e., of course I could do it, but would not get any refunding from my employer then). Consequence: You are STUCK and have to wait for a long time because neither bfi nor Vincent will make a deal unless the deal has a certain minimum financial volume. In other words, you have to wait until bfi has a sufficient number of orders of Vincent products to place a sufficiently large order at Vincent's. Should your competitor, while you are waiting, manage to do the revolutionary experiments you wanted to do during the time you are waiting, then your competitor will get the Nobel prize, and not you. Please, don't bother about it. That's life! "Sit down, wait, and be patient!" So, it seems, they say. My understanding is that the Photometrics HQ camera does not need a shutter. -- Julio Vazquez Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Seattle, USA http://www.fhcrc.org/ On Oct 29, 2010, at 7:59 AM, Katherina Garcia Garcia wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > ***** > > Hello: > > We want to buy a new transmitted light shutter for our DeltaVision > system. Julio is correct about the camera. I have removed the shutter from in front of our HQ on the Deltavision. Cheers, c Carl A. To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** That is a good - and, unfortunately, not at all trivial - question, Carl. The answer, in this case, is that Vincent have CE labelled some of their products so that they can be sold to Europe. However, Vincent will NOT sell ANY of their non-CE-products to Europe. Consequently, we can, e.g., not purchase the controller units that control up to three shutters. "CE" labelling appears to be a major issue and I know of some companies, who rather do not sell anything to Europe than go through the "CE-procedure".
