To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Hello all; I've found old threads, but nothing for Windows 7. I am looking for software (free or inexpensive) that would track when users log on and off of Windows 7, 64 bit. This is how they log in to their own settings on our Nikon Elements software. All I need is time on, time off, and duration. No scheduling, no billing accounts etc, although it would be nice if I could have them assigned to a PI name's account. Most software I search for is way more sophisticated than what I need, or won't work on a 64 bit computer. I don't know how to write macros for Win7 Event Viewer. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Although we use a quite different system (for account billing purposes), that's one possibility they quickly thought about for you : "A simple logon/logoff script may be useful. open gpedit.msc and go to "User Configuration\Windows Settings\Scripts (Logon/Logoff)" for logon add a batch script with: echo %username% log on at %date% %time% >> c:\user.log and the same for logoff: echo %username% log off at %date% %time% >> c:\user.log" Hope that might help you. I have used the XP version for years and it is simple, cheap, and so useful. It's the only product on the market that just tracks logon/logoffs. You would have to tailor the login name if you wanted to link to a PI. We have a billing database with all the info and I also keep a simple spreadsheet with every user/PI/instrument that I can sort as needed. No commercial interest, just a happy customer. Do you know if their new version will?
