good anti-GFP antibody for immunocytochemistry

Dear all,

Sorry for this non-confocal question, but I guessed some of you might be able to recommend an anti-GFP antibody for immunocytochemistry. I want to label cultured cells that have been transfected with a GFP fusion protein (to enhance the GFP signal). I routinely use the Rockland anti-RFP for the same protein fused to mCherry, but now I would like to use the GFP fusion and the signal is a bit weak.

Thank you !

Christophe

Re: good anti-GFP antibody for immunocytochemistry

I suggest the mouse anti-GFP monoclonal clone 3E6.  It is sold by a
number of different vendors, including Molecular Probes.  It works great
for enhancing the GFP signal in PFA-fixed cells and tissues.

Dear Christophe,

Molecular Probes/Invitrogen sells quite a few versions of anti-GFP antibodies.

If you type in anti-GFP in our browser you can see the complete list.  mAbs, polys, direct conjugates in many Alexa Fluor colors, biotinXX, HRP, even chicken IgY (no Fc tail so low backgrounds).  Some optimized for westerns, most for all applications, especially ICC.   All raised to A. victoria FPs.

Dear Christophe,

I have very good success with the anti-GFP from Chemicon as well (rabbit
poly AB3080).  It also binds to GFP variants such as CFP (for instance, when
tested in brainbow mice).  The signal is exceptionally strong - you might
even have to dilute it more than what the manufacturer suggests.  Good luck!
