Dear all We have an old confocal Leica 4D
(1996) microscope whose Motorola workstation is not running any more: we
suspect that the MVME 167 -34B board is broken but I do not have the technical
possibility to check it out. Nobody in Italy as far as we know is
able to assist us in order to get the workstation back to work. is there anybody that my give us any
hint? Is there anybody that would sell us a board
even if from a dismissed workstation? Please please this is VITAL for my research

Dear Mimmo Our Leica Confocal CLSM has had the same
problem: the motherboard gave up and there is no replacing it and no solution

Hi Mimmo,
Our TCS 4D also failed last year. We tried everything and couldn't fix it
and nor could Leica. I think it was also the MVME board so our old one wouldn't
be any use to you. Two other 4D systems of about the same age in New
Zealand also failed about 1-2 years prior to ours and none could be
recusitated. It was very sad because it was such a reliable
system!
Leica did try a "new" board in one of the other failed NZ systems and it
ran for 3 days until they shut it down. Then it wouldn't boot up again. We tried
that board in ours but with no success. My understanding is that it was due to
one component on the board failing. If I find out more from our Leica engineer,
I'll let you know but I'm afraid that you may be as unlucky as us with regard to
this.

Dear All, Thanks so much to those that took some
time to answer … so far no luck with my confocal. I have one more question for you: is there
anyone that would kindly receive my motherboard (MVME 167 -34B), that one
that I suppose is dead, and test it out for me on his/her computer? This
should be a BUS VME operative system OS9 !!! Does anyone know any other simplest way to
let me know if is this is my problem? The market sells this board at a lot of
