Hi,

I was wondering if any had suggestion for a good but not over expensive
microscope camera.

The camera is to be used on a old IX70 microscope. The Microscope is
mostly used in a cell culture room for daily routine brightfield and
fluorescence images of cells.

We had an optronics microfire camera  and the suggested replacement is a
Jenoptik, ProgRes SpeedXT Core 5.

Please let me know what you think.

Thank you

JP

What resolution are you looking for? Would you characterize your typical
samples as 'not dim'?

Hi JP,

I asked a similar question a few months ago and some suggested the DCC3240M CMOS camera series from Thorlabs (no commercial interest here).
It works nicely in brightfield and "not dim" fluorescence (I use it mostly to visualize 100 nm fluorescent beads) at pretty decent frame rates.
It is compatible with ยต-Manager which might be a big plus if you do not want to invest in expensive software. Thorlabs states that it also works with Labview and Matlab but I have not tried it.
At a little over 1K it is not bad at all.

Best,

Jens
