Dear listers,

I am trying to do some movie editing with my confocal movie, such as adding
arrow and insert a zoomed version into an original movie.
Does anyone know any good and easy to use software has this capacity?
We don't have any more budget for buying a new software. So a free software
would be better.

Thanks,

Yi

ImageJ has several plugins that can do these kind of things. Here is one example:

You can find others on the main ImageJ plugin page:

Dear Yi,

I would recommend ImageJ as a free software to use. You can do all the
thing you mentioned. I am familiar with the Zeiss softwares (LSM and
now ZEN) and there you can draw arrows, write captions to the movie
file and export to avi or whatever you want (for free).

What microscope do you use??

Best,

Attila

Dear John,

thank you for your reply.
The *The Image, Stack and Timelapse Arrow Labelling Tool for ImageJ *
you mentioned in your email (first link) seems very interesting and it is
exactly what I want.
Is it a plugin? Where can I find the download file? I search the whole
webpage and didn't find any link to download this plugin. I installed
the basic imageJ in my computer and didn't see this tools in the menu.
Sorry I am very new to imageJ and would appreciate if you would give more
detailed instruction.

Thanks a lot!

Yi

Yi, the link I sent actually contains ImageJ macros (bottom of the page) which can be saved as text files and installed in ImageJ using the Macros->Install menu function.

Try reading this page first to understand how macros are handled in ImageJ:
http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/docs/menus/plugins.html#macros
