Does anyone have any experience with these? Any advice or suggestions? All we can seem to find is the Roper iLAS2, are there other commercial systems, or are we better off building our own? thanks, -Jeff |

Some vendors even want to sell you a new laser launch with it since "it only works with that launch". Building your own is not too complicated. Just get the large galvos from thorlabs and put them into your path. I did this a while ago to rotate an oblique beam/sheet: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4620878/ Another option is ASI. They make a Scanner that is not officially for ring TIRF but should work: http://www.asiimaging.com/index.php/products/light-sheet-microscopy/fiber-coupled-laser-scanner/ It can be controlled through well documented serial controls through a serial monitor. Nikon NIS has such a monitor built into its macro plugin! We recently got one of these scanner but I hadn't have time to integrate it into our Nikon rig yet. It was mounted on a olympus IX81 body and run by metamorph. Quite stable and easy to use. Good for experiments that need fast switching between multiple lasers and multiple TIRF angle. Less fringe problems compare to point TIRF systems. (here's the publication: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.nanolett.6b00650 and here's the system specs: http://microscopy.mechanobio.info/Home/olympustirf) hope that helps. Thanks. Dear Jeff
We have been using Roper iLas for last one year in the current lab with Olympus Ix 83. Before that another 4 years in my previous lab with Nikon eclipse (Daniel Choquet and Jean Baptistery Sibarita, Bordeaux). In all the cases we used it with Metamorph. I also agree with Edna's observations. Quite stable and easy to use. We have also used it for multicolour TIRF and storm experiments. I have no commercial interests.
