The camera is a Hamamatsu EM-CCD C9100-02, controlled with A3472-07. We are using this unit for multi-location, multi-time microscopy ~30 locations for ~150 acquisitions per experiment. What software and operating system do people recommend to control this setup? Is there anyone with a similar setup who can make software recommendations? Thank you and Happy New Year, Bernhard Kuhn |

To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Bernhard: A couple of other options to follow up on. Image Pro Plus (www.mediacy.com) does directly control the IX-81, The Prior Stages, and has very flexible macro programing controls fro allowing the slide scanning. I do not know about the Hamamatsu interface. Secondly, Slide-Book ( www.intelligent-imaging.com) will also control the IX-81. We have an older copy running deconvolution on one of our IX-81's. To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Hi All, I have also been trying to control an IX81 with almost the identical hardware to Bernhard (Prior stage, ZDC etc) using Micromanager. However, I have been unable to get our computer (and Micromanager) to successfully talk with the Olympus control box via the serial port. I suspect the serial port settings. If anyone has done this successfully, can you please let me/us know what settings you used or what has worked best. Many thanks. Paul Assoc. To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** I had trouble with the IX81 once and solved it by increasing the timeout (in the hardware config). does this help? my timeout setting was probably higher than listed here: http://valelab.ucsf.edu/~MM/MMwiki/index.php/OlympusIX81/BX61 /Johan On Thu, Jan 5, 2012 at 4:55 AM, Paul Rigby <[hidden email]> wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > ***** > > Hi All, > I have also been trying to control an IX81 with almost the identical > hardware to Bernhard (Prior stage, ZDC etc) using Micromanager. However, I have been unable to get our computer (and Micromanager) to successfully talk with the Olympus control box via the serial port. I suspect the serial port settings. If anyone has done this successfully, can you please let me/us know what settings you used or what has worked best. It can be challenging to get hardware to cooperate! However, there are many labs that are using Micro-Manager to operate an Olympus IX81. If you still have trouble after increasing the serial port timeout as suggested by Johan, please use the menu entry "Help"->"Report a Problem". This will give me a chance to figure out what is going on and help you make it work. Also, the Micro-Manager mailing list ( https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/micro-manager-general ) may be a more useful forum for issues such as these. Best, Nico |
